Malan Breton from Taiwan Poetry Contest - WINNERS!
First of all I want to say that when we conceived the notion of a poetry contest for Malan, we had no idea that this would be his last week on the show. Even with all of the interviews, e-mails and public appearances that Malan has been doing since Wednesday he has graciously read and carefully considered our entries. Here are his three favorites:

BPR Interview With Malan Breton
Every week, BPR will be requesting interviews with the "auf'd" contestant. Malan Breton checks in with us today, responding to the outpouring of love he's been shown since receiving Heidi's good-bye kiss.
BPR: Malan, the response from Project Runway fans has been overwhelming. You are loved and many feel you were wrongly auf’d. Anything you would like to say to your supporters up front?
Malan: Dear Project Runway fans, I am so touched by your kind words! You and everyone at BPR have been truly amazing.
BPR: People keep asking, what is your relationship status?
Malan: I am single I am married to my love my art, LOL! Not good for the sex life though, he he! One day I would love to meet a special someone I can share all of my dreams, love and success with, I would also love to have a child, its amazing what you can see through a child's eyes.
BPR: You turned down the chance to appear on Season 2. What made you change your mind?
Malan: My reasons for turning down season two were simple, I had never watched PR and I was naive to the reality television genre, would I leave a positive impression, well after watching season two I realised my concerns were no longer valid, as the show was very good about portraying its subjects.
BPR: Who were your favorite designers?
Malan: It is difficult for me to choose a favourite from season 2, they were all so brilliant and diverse, as fashion should be, diverse, something for everyone.

hi scarlett, t-bone and laura k,
...i am getting so much love mail and hate mail right now ... so this letter is for people who are open to an explanation.
i'll start off by telling you what i told tim gunn: it's not unusual for me to be misunderstood because i don't edit my enthusiasms very well. i really wanted to work with kayne because i wanted to bond with him creatively and personally.
when we met, we became instant best friends, laughing until our sides hurt. but my behavior put a wedge between us and understandably so - i realized at a later point how it looked (that i would want to be on his team because he was a pageant designer) and i apologized, telling him that i totally understood that he would want to choose robert. i was horrified that i had not considered how i was coming across. there is an old adage that goes: "think twice, speak once". well, needless to say, that is not one of my strengths. i knew i was getting on his nerves and when he said it to the camera, i wasn't surprised. that is my only regret on this show: that my behavior turned away a very warm and hilarious friend. this is unbelievably difficult to dish, but i wanted to give a shout out to hopefully clarify this situation.
in regard to my not sketching a design, it wasn't because i was giving up on the challenge. it was because sketching is not generally a part of my creative process. inspiration usually comes from the fabric itself or a specific feeling that i want to embody in the clothes. not all designers use sketches to convey their vision; i've read that yohji yamamato and isabel toledo design by conversing with their patternmakers (isabel actually tells her husband how she is feeling and then he sketches it out for her). and since i've produced my own line for the last 7 years, i've never been required to provide sketches.
in regard to vincent, there was a breakdown in communication coupled with high stress levels and i shut down. this was a huge personal failure and i know it. unfortunately, in the moment, i did not know how to handle it. the reason i was so vocal about his design was because i thought that both team members would be eliminated. and i was afraid of being eliminated by default. standing on that stage under those lights, in front of people who you feel have already convicted you, is truly harrowing and i wouldn't wish it on anybody. i felt as if i was drowning.
this was my huge lesson: i was acting out of fear and when you act from fear instead of love, you are guaranteed to mess things up. i understand why some people think i should have been off the show - i didn't want to see malan go, either.

Can you imagine anything so perfect? "Our" own Kayne Gillaspie - who loves pageants and pageantwear like no one else - has designed a gown for MISS USA! Could anything be sweeter? What a complete and utter thrill. Congratulations Kayne!
We will all be watching the Miss Universe pageant this Sunday see Tara in the evening gown competition. What changes did you make? How does it look on her? How does it fit her? Honestly Kayne, no matter how far you go on Project Runway - you have already won! I'll bet your phone is ringing off the hook with beauties eager to commission a Kayne Gillaspie Original. First, the newspaper thing was supposed to be funny. Maybe I'm not so good at funny but I was just thinking about how out of control this has gotten and how in a way, it's actually good for Project Runway because more people will watch.
I do not believe that Bravo, or the judges knew that these were not original drawings. I believe it was "Viktor Rolf" at Television Without Pity who first exposed this. I want to be sure to give credit where credit is due - some are crediting LiveJournal or the Defamer but the original source is TWoP - and we LOVE TWoP.
I was following this in the "spoiler" thread there and once I saw the side-by-side comparisons I was dumbfounded. Even more impressive was the lightning speed at with this story spread throughout the internet and now even to the mainstream media.

Tomorrow's Headline?
Thursday, July 20Last night's episode of Project Runway drew in a record 4.8 million viewers to the Emmy-nominated series. Fueled largely by a scandalous revelation first reported on the popular website "Television Without Pity" by Viktor Rolf that quickly spread throughout the internet, viewers were anxious to watch what would happen. It seems that a designer on the series, Keith Michael - also known as "Jude Kinnear" - had misrepresented some traced images as his own original sketches at his audition.
Michael responded on the highly-regarded "Blogging Project Runway" by explaining that these images were part of a "research assignment" mapping trends for a client and his actual work was contained in one of the other portfolios submitted that were not included in the episode.
After winning the first challenge and gaining immunity for the second week, Keith was looking good to the judges and viewers alike. However, promos hinted that someone would be "asked to leave." Would this be the reason? Or is this something that completely escaped the producers? Would Keith be busted on the show? Or are Viktor Rolf and the internet sleuths a step ahead of the Bravo insiders?
It seemed that EVERYONE wanted to know.
After NBC aired the first episode of Project Runway on Monday night, and the "scandal" reached the mainstream news media by Wednesday morning, it seemed that all of America was tuned to Project Runway last night. Viewership topped even the previous record for a Bravo show: 3.4 million for the Season Two finale. (Turn to page B3 to continue)
