Love goes away, but the sickness lingers. We'll always be Lovesick.
Valentine's Day draws near, and the burden of expectation weighs heavy on our brows. The "correct" V-day ritual has been ingrained into our minds, accepted as the status quo. In order to "prove" our love, we must follow the checklist: flowers, chocolate, etc. Intimacy, commodified.
We all recognize this cliche for the lie that it is, but we've also internalized it- and if we don't obey, there are consequences. Nobody wants to be the sitting at home, alone.
But do not despair. You don't have to accept this fate. Lovesick is back- and we've got the cure. We have inherited the future- and now we get to decide which traditions to keep, or throw away and replace with our own. We don't need Valentine's Day. Let's all get Lovesick instead.
