BPR Interview with Ari South
Project Runway All-Star designer Ari South talks about her experience on the show.
A highlight:
BPR: Your fans all applaud your courage and honesty. A gender transition can not be easy.
AS: My fans give me the courage and support I need so I thank them for always being in my corner. You're right, it is not an easy road and one that I would never wish on anyone because of the trials, but it can be a beautiful journey if it is meant for you.
BPR: You are certainly a beautiful woman.
AS: hahaha thank you-- I always find myself embarrassed or blushing when people say that. It just hasn't been how I've ever felt about myself before.
BPR: Has your design aesthetic changed?
AS: It has. On season 8, viewers saw very heavy and dark Andy South in the beginning. You can sort of see my progression and you really do see me finding myself while on the show. I sort of blossomed into someone that found the courage to be completely myself and by the end, you saw a very feminine side of my work. I understand that it was sort of a jump for many to see, but for me it was genuine of my place and time. Now, the Andy South brand has come to represent both the yin and yang you saw. An elegance with a bite; a woman strong in herself, but conscious of her surroundings.

Elena's Decoy Collection
Elena Slivnyak had never won a challenge prior to last week's triumph in the Season 3 All Star opener and some questioned her credentials for being cast in the first place. She hung around long enough in Season 10 to finish in sixth place and was able to show a decoy collection at Lincoln Center. Click here for a look back at her bold and unusually styled collection that was a big hit at the Project Runway finale.

A New Interview with Alexandria von Bromssen
A highlight:
The experience was crazy and intense for von Bromssen, who participated in 13 challenges and said she averaged four hours of sleep per night during the six weeks of filming of the Lifetime network television show.
Overall, the show brought her out of her comfort zone though and has helped her designs stand out on a national scale.
“I have 200 orders in my pocket off of things people saw on the show,” said von Bromssen, 38. “I cried a lot when I saw the show and stopped watching it early on. Now it’s very different since the phones are now ringing.”

Bert Keeter at Tucson Fashion Week
Camerone Parker models the final look in Bert's Collection |
Project Runway Season 9 designer, Bert Keeter, presented a stunning collection of 19 looks on Saturday, October 19th at Tucson Fashion Week.
My husband and I drove down for the event and it was a gorgeous night in Tucson. The event was outdoors at La Encantada and included, food, drinks, shopping, and of course, the runway.
Bert's collection was the final show of the night and he was definitely the star of the evening.
I had the chance to ask Bert how he was invited to the show and he told me that he met Camerone Parker and Mel Greenberg at Fashion Week El Paseo in March.
(He couldn't miss Camerone at the event because she was wearing the seat belt coat made by Korto Momolu in Season 5!)
They asked if he would be interested in the Tucson event and of course he was.
Bert's runway designs were impeccable and I asked if he did all of the work himself.
"You can't move forward if you are making everything yourself," he explained. (Great advice for designers just starting out...) He does the draping, cutting and patternmaking and has expert sample makers and beaders finishing the garments.
Right now Bert is working on a line for the American Business Woman. He promises to keep us posted.
I'm so glad we went!

BPR Interview with Alexandria von Bromssen
Season 12 finalist, Alexandria von Bromssen talks about her experience on the show.
A highlight:
BPR: Heidi, Nina and Kerry all said that they wanted to wear your clothes, but they did not choose you for the win. I was surprised by that. Were you?
AvB: To be honest, I considered Justin my competition. When he was dismissed, I thought I had a chance. I still believe that my collection was superior.
If I am honest I will say that I am very disappointed. My collection was tight. It fit perfectly. It was innovative. Marketable. All of the models backstage wanted my looks. The producers wanted my looks. Tim told me that Heidi tried on my pieces.
BPR: Heidi tried on your looks? We didn't see that.
AvB: Yes, Tim told me that she loved it.

BPR Interview with Dom Streater
Project Runway Season 12 Champion, Dom Streater, talks about her experience on the show.
A highlight:
BPR: What is the best part of the prize package?
DS: Definitely the trip to The Maldives.
BPR: Are you serious?
DS: I have not had a vacation in ten years. Of course money is great, but I am looking forward to just relaxing! I can not wait.
BPR: We have a reader question. Kenneth is wondering about the "D" pin that you wear. Is there a story behind it?
DS: There is a boutique in town called Verde and they sell collections from independent designers. I go in there just to look because I am always broke. Right before I left to film Project Runway, the first thing I saw when I walked in was the hot pink "D" and I thought I would be crazy not to get it.
