BPR Field Report from the UTG Finale
That's Eric3000 in the lower left corner!
We sent Project Runway recapper extraordinaire Eric3000 on a special mission to report on the Under The Gunn finale back in December. After cleverly disguising himself as Daniel Franco, he gained entrance behind the ropes and snared a front row seat. The results of this mission, well, you'll just have to read for yourself.
Thanks Eric!

BPR Interview with NIck Verreos
"Under the Gunn," winning mentor, Nick Verreos, talks about his experience on the show.
A couple of highlights:
BPR: Let's talk about your prize package. Have you received the Lexus yet?
NV: I did hear from Lexus and they told me that the car would be just a one-year lease. I thought about it but I have leased a car before and I know that driving around in Los Angeles I was likely to get a scratch or a ding on the car and would probably wind up owing them money at the end of the lease. So, I declined.
also,
BPR: I have a reader question from Ken: What was Oscar wearing on his wrist at the finale?
NV: Oh! That was a hand-knit fabric cuff that Natalia made for Oscar. He honored her by wearing it on the finale runway. You probably noticed that every week he wore something himself to give a hint of his runway garment.
BPR: Yes we did!

BPR Interview with Oscar Garcia-Lopez
Under the Gunn Champion, Oscar Garcia-Lopez, graciously spoke with me this morning about his experience on the show.
A highlight:
BPR: How did you learn to sew?
OGL: Well, since I was very very little, I was always attracted to the machine. My grandmother had this very old Singer machine. I would just stare at it, like wow. I looked at it as a treasure. She would not let me near it, I was so little, so that made me only want it more. Do you know what I mean?
My grandmother became sick with Alzheimer's in Cuba, and when we would visit her, instead of playing outside with kids in the neighborhood, I visited with her friends who were seamstresses, and they showed me so many things. I loved learning to sew and design.
BPR: Heidi Klum said that she would "...love to wear some of your clothes..." Are you working on something for Heidi?
OGL: Ah - she was so great. At the moment...I can not talk about that... There was so much edited... she even came up to the garments and was looking inside at the seams and the finishing. She was so impressed. It was great.

BPR Interview with Dani Vierra
After last week's episode (and reading Nick's Dish and watching Tim Talks...) I was curious about "Dani's Take" on the challenge.
Dani Vierra graciously agreed to an interview and she shares her experience with BPR - thank you Dani!
A highlight:
BPR: When you had your first meeting with Oscar, what did you ask for? Did you say that you wanted a pageant gown? Did you talk about color?
DV: I did actually. When I was originally invited on the show, before taping, I thought long and hard about what I would want. It's a chance to have a beautiful couture piece handmade by a talented up and coming designer. I told myself, regardless of who I was paired with, I would demand an evening gown because :
A) It's something that I simply cannot "buy" at the store (all my pageant gowns are from the teen section and altered. I'm only 4'10" and 80lbs, which distorts the shape)
B) I can buy everything else on the rack and have it altered and unlike an evening gown it won't look weird after.
C) It's an original commissioned piece by a designer. It's something I can own and cherish for a lifetime. It's a classical design and will never lose it's beauty. Getting paired with Oscar was probably the best thing that ever could have happened. He is definitely my fashion soulmate. I told Oscar and Nick about my involvement in pageants but that I wanted something more "red carpet" that could crossover into pageant.
The color I had no idea what I wanted. I love colors but have trouble picking one for myself. We talked a lot about the color and hadn't come to a definite "I want this" and I told Oscar that I trusted his professional decision. The color gown he picked is actually my Mom's favorite color and definitely in my top five (my favorite color is Bright Orange which is hardly an evening gown color!!). I love the color and I am glad I asked him to pick something because if I had it would have ended up being like... ridiculous! I always say "trust your designer!"

Viktor Luna F/W 2014
Project Runway Season 9 finalist, Viktor Luna, presents his Fall/Winter 2014 collection, "Pangaea."
The collection was inspired by the idea of hunters and exotic animals in a civilization before the world split.
This season Viktor is revisiting his passion for leather jackets and creating one-of-a-kind looks. Viktor created an idea of what femininity would look like in this barbaric and exotic world.

Tim Gunn in Dallas
Photo: Elizabeth Lippman/The New York Times |
He shares "three things he likes, and three things he doesn't like" about Dallas with the Dallas Morning News.
A highlight:
It’s sweaty. He’s visited Dallas three times during the summer. ”How does anybody cope? It’s gruesome,” he says. He always wears a suit for work, regardless of the temperature. That’s actually a blessing come summertime: “because a jacket covers all the sweat marks.”
