Islands of the World Fashion Week a Huge Success

Nick Verreos and David Paul have returned home after a very busy week in the Bahamas.

The "Islands of the World Fashion Week" news has been filling the mailbox and by all accounts, it was a lot of fun and a grand success.

Of all of the glamorous images from the event, of course I had to select this one as my favorite. On the left you'll see Nick's parents, Jim and Raquel and his adorable niece and nephew Casia and Alain. It's great that Nick and David were able to include their family in this experience.

Christian Siriano Launches Fierce Mamas

NYC Field Reporter, Nancy T covered the launch of "Fierce Mamas" for BPR. Thank you Nancy!

Between now and November 15, you can buy affordable, stylish holiday clothing made by Christian Siriano. The catch – it will fit you better if you’re pregnant!

Christian has teamed up with Moody Mamas to produce the first celebrity maternity line, called (appropriately) Fierce Mamas. His Capsule Collection for the Holiday 2008 Season will only be available at Belly Dance Maternity Store in NY or on their website. But since they will be making the clothes to order based on on-line demand, you have to order them now, for December delivery.

I went to Belly Dance Maternity to interview Christian. Because I arrived prematurely, I checked out the collection and even tried some on. The color palette is silver, scarlet, and black, and most are shiny and girly. Most are cut in a way to celebrate the pregnant body, showing off impressive pregnancy cleavage and expanding belly bump. Best of all, everything costs $175 or under, except for a limited edition black silk dress with soft ruffles on the décolletage (shown in the bottom photo) which costs $250.

Some can easily be worn by non-pregnant women. There’s a gray jersey top with side ruching which looked current and flattering on me, a size 4/6 with a flat stomach. Also, a dressy belt could be used to make these dresses wearable by the non-expectant. I say – at this price -- go for it.

I also spoke with Marta Abrams and Elise Rosemarin, the creators of Moody Mamas. Marta was good friends with Christian when they were both students in London. They mentioned that their clothes have been worn by Ashlee Simpson, Tori Spelling, Jessica Alba, and Laila Ali. Also, there will also be a Christian-designed Fierce Mamas collection in Spring 2009, with brighter colors and new silhouettes.

Kit Pistol - Chocolate Fashion

Here are some pics from last night's Chocolate Show! I participated with my fave PR alums, Jack Mackenroth and Kevin Christiana so it was a blast. I was paired up with two artisan chocolatiers from Knipschildt Chocolatier, Torben Bang and owner Fritz Knipschildt. As it was super-hero themed, the costumes were outrageous! Our superhero was Dark Phoenix from the X-Men comics. Our outfit had dark chocolate covered wings, dark chocolate bon bon covered bra and panty, red chocolate wig, red chocolate panels, and dark chocolate phoenix emblems dusted in edible gold dust! What!?!?

And talk about a delicious building process!.... I built the costume at their restaurant in Connecticut, called Chocopology. which is a candy factory basically - they even play Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on the wall! I spent two days there using chocolate fashionably while overdosing on caramel truffles covered in sea salt. Positively sinful!

The latest in Project Courtroom?

As part of the ongoing Project Runway saga, NBC Universal and Bravo Monday moved to have their breach-of-contract suit against The Weinstein Co. remanded from federal court back to a New York state court.

“Litigation is not a game where the parties can concoct legal theories and switch positions simply to shop for a judge who might rule in their favor,” NBCU said in its filing.

The 32-page motion was filed with U.S. District Court Judge Richard Sullivan of the Southern District of New York, asking that NBCU’s suit be ordered back to the New York State Supreme Court, where it was originally filed in April.

Nick Verreos Heads to Islands of the World Fashion Week

Hi BPR,

It's past midnight and we are still packing for our trip to the Bahamas.
We have to be up in three hours (no rest for the wicked), to get ready, pile 7 suitcases (yes, we are bringing the entire collection with us--we don't trust DHL to get there on time) and ourselves into my SUV.

Then we will drop Benny (our dog) off at the "Doggy Hotel" and then head over to LAX, drop our car and catch a shuttle to board a 7 AM flight to Miami and then to the Bahamas.

Wish us luck!

It's been a very tiring and extremely brutal last few weeks to the finish line. We have done this all by ourselves, except for the amazing help of our amazing seamstress.

Who knows what kind of models we will have, and if they will fit into our standard runway sample size 2/4 gowns? (We have only seen composite cards and will have fittings once we settle into the Bahamas.) We did our part. Hopefully the Islands Of The World Fashion Week will be good to us and the Caribbean Gods will be on our side...David is bringing the good ol' Singer Sewing Machine just in case we have to "Make It Work".

This is an exclusive preview. We took the photos at our studio. There are also some additional sketches I did, which I posted on my blog.

The theme is: La Epoca de Oro Del Cine Mexicano. (The Golden Age of Mexican Cinema!)

We'll try and take lots of photos---and hopefully, we might get one day to actually enjoy the gorgeous Atlantis Resort and pretend like it was a "mini-vacation"...

A Note From Daniel Feld

I wanted to update Blogging Project Runway with an awesome project I just finished with.

I was contracted to create futuristic outfits for the models representing the new Audi car launch. I used sheet metal, fiberglass, clear vinyl and black tire rubber. Believe me that working with these materials and creating patterns is not an easy task!!!. Mugler and Gaultier were a great inspirational source as well as robotic carapace structures. There are 2 designs and 7 models total.

The event was celebrity packed including Penn Badgley and Rosario Dawson. I was so happy with final result and am grateful for all the compliments I received.

I find it incredibly ironic to come across this project when I was eliminated right before the Saturn challenge would have taken place. I guess life works in mysterious ways and gives you second shots.

In addition I have been hired to create the new uniforms for the New York Yankees luxury suites and will update you about those designs asap.
