Malan Breton presented his Spring/Summer 2016 Menswear Collection on Tuesday, July 14, at NYFW - Men's.

Malan's collection included sportswear, swimwear, suiting, and underwear.  

The designs are modern, sleek, and made in comfort fibers like silk, cotton, and bamboo. 

Exploring the techniques of wetsuit design, Breton incorporates fusing elements, and finds inspiration in the Batik techniques, and tradition of the Hakka blue shirts of his homeland, Taiwan. 

Malan Breton® HOMME introduced eyewear, cufflinks, and skateboards this season. 

Made of the highest quality elements; brushed metals, Swarovski crystals, and enamels that accentuate his philosophy of high style, but continue in the path of total comfort.

Malan Breton, "A Jouney to Taiwan" Wins Film Award

Project Runway Season 3 designer, (and BPR fave,) Malan Breton,  has written and directed a short film documenting the creation of his "A Journey to Taiwan" Collection.  

(Malan graciously invited us to the fashion show and the collection was gorgeous!)

The film premiered at the New York City International Film Festival and took the prize for "Best Short Documentary."

Will we see Malan at the Oscars?  Stay tuned!

Malan Breton truly woke up my spirit, among many others, this morning, with an early 9 am show held in The Pavilion at Lincoln Center. The Malan Breton Showcase of his Fall/Winter 2015 Men's and Women's Collection was the most elevated and exquisitely put together show of the week.

Malan always delivers, his craftsmanship is flawless and every garment is stitched to perfection. From head to toe, each model looked consciously well thought out and put together. Malan's decisions in style are incredibly innovative, including intelligent twists on traditional styles for women AND men. He's all about breaking the rules just a little bit, showcasing oversized necklaces using leather, a full on three piece cashmere suit, ranging from fantasy to reality. Plus, Sir. Malan Breton knows how to put on a show!

Malan Breton presented his Fall 2014 Collection on Feb 11th and BPR Field Reporter, Jennifer Mara, sends us this report - thanks Jen!

Today Malan Breton traded his white runway for a black box theatre and his Fall 2014 fashion show was among the best.

Malan Breton shows are always extremely well run and executed with the most professional staff.

The atmosphere was dark with blue spotlights streaming from above in every direction, the one white spotlight on the incredible pianist Erik James who really put us in the mood.

The place filled with energy as each look passed through the U-shaped space with thirty plus looks. (Malan always delivers.)

Malan Breton at "Celebrate Taiwan" Sept. 28

Taiwan and the Smithsonian Museum Present Malan Breton Spring 2014 Collection NYC, NY.

Taiwan Tourism Bureau in New York partners with the Smithsonian Museum promoting Taiwan culture with "Celebrate Taiwan at Grand Central Terminal" this Saturday September 28 from 11 - 2 PM.

Taiwan celebrity fashion designer Malan Breton has been invited to show his fashions as a part of the festivities. The Malan Breton Collection will be shown at 1 PM.

The Malan Breton collection is inspired by a meeting of delicacy and strength; yin and yang. 

"The strong Savile Row silhouettes of the 1960's British pops invasion meets the decadent romance of Won Kar Wei's film, In the Mood for Love," explains Malan. 

 The silhouettes are enhanced by opalescent fabrics, old world corsetry, rich brocades, organza, mylar, cashmere, embroideries, and mother of pearl that give these collections a touch of glamour, romance, luxury, and strength.

 You can always count on Malan Breton to put on a unique show, today beautiful in so many ways, he does it again. 

 Today his show began with a logo and a song on the trumpet. The silence in the audience was beautiful. Then we kick it into gear. 

 Thematically very interesting; same fabrics crossing between male and female.

Suits of silk and glitter both embellished for each gender and tailored for personality for a very fashionable but wearable look. 

 Cummerbunds worn by women around their waists as belts were super sleek and different. 

Each look was extremely well made and well thought out. 

 My favorite?; that would be the white tube top dress with the tuxedo belt OR the Copper patent leather pants rocked out twice in the show-once by a woman and once for a man. 

 Work it Malan!

Malan by Malan Breton – on The Catwalk!

 Malan Breton is all over Fashion Week for Spring 2014.

On September 7, he showed in the Mercedes Benz tents.

On September 11, he put on another show in Metropolitan Pavilion sponsored by Style 360 and Fancy Feast. Nobody was sure what to expect from a show sponsored by cat food. Would there be feline companions for the models? Fur coats? Cat fights?

 None of the above (thank goodness). Though there was a fluffy Persian posing in the lobby and backstage, only men and women took to the catwalk.

 The show was characteristically Malan – timeless fashion and ageless looks.

Malan’s designs seemed inspired by mens’ formal wear, with tuxedo touches (cummerbunds, satin stripes on pants), a mostly black and white palette, and beautiful silks and brocades.

Leather and a few items in vivid reds and yellows were interspersed with the dressier looks, making the collection feel like it could be worn on the street (but only on a VERY NICE street).

 The final look was a stunner. The model strode the runway, wrapped in a voluminous gray and white cloak. At the end of the walk , she unfastened and dropped the cloak – which turned out to be a very long train on a white strapless gown. Think “Say Yes to the Dress” for a drama queen.

BPR at Malan Breton's NYFW Presentation

Tbone, The Scarlett and I headed to the tents on Saturday afternoon for a presentation from fashion genius, Malan Breton.

While in line we caught up with Second City Style's Carol Calacci, and long-time BPR reader and contributor, Rie Sadler.

The highlight of Malan's show was a beautiful soprano singing opera selections live!  

Amazing.

Malan ALWAYS puts on an incredible show, last night at Pier 59 was no different. Every season, Malan produces new levels of growth and evolution at a rapid pace which is refreshing and enjoyable to see.

On a clean white runway, Malan showcased menswear, womenswear, evening, outerwear, and well, you name it. Malan is not holding back on us! (Not that he ever did) The collection is complete with 45 looks in a 50's Marilyn Monroe theme that delivered in every way. 

Outstanding music set the tone and each model brought a new flavor to each pass. Each garment was stunning.

Audible ooo's and aahh's kept the energy high throughout the show and every look was a hit, especially the men's fur. WOW! ... Malan's personal favorite, the blue mink...and can you blame him?

Malan included the Marilyn Monroe Jewelry™ Collection by JTV, luxury lingerie company Chantelle Paris, Batiste Dry Shampoo, Brooklyn Spectacles, GOLDTOE Socks, H.H. Brown Shoe Company, Harbor Footwear Group, with his dear friend Aviva Drescher in support of the One Step Ahead Foundation.

BPR Interview with Malan Breton

Project Runway season 3 designer, Malan Breton, updates us on his plans for Fashion Week and into the future.  

A highlight:

BPR: Are you living in New York?

MB: As you know I have been traveling between New York and L.A. for the past year.

I have just signed a contract to appear in a film with Taylor Negron. I am playing an attorney, a french attorney. I'll keep you posted on that.

BPR: Malan, can you do a french accent? (because naturally I would love hear it!)

MB: Actually I speak french in the film. 

... And also, I have just been offered another opportunity to star in another film yesterday. I can't say what it is, but you will see, it is one of the biggest franchises in the world. I have been offered the role of a villainous character. Please stay tuned.
