Project Runway Designers Featured at Haiti Fashion Week

Project Runway Season Eight designer, Nicholas D'Aurizio, talks to us about Haiti Fashion Week.  Thank you Nicholas!

BPR:  Tell us about Haiti Fashion Week.

ND:  Haiti Fashion Week will be November 5 - 8.  There will be a line-up of Haitian designers as well as designers from around the world. 

BPR:  Is this the first year?

ND:  This is the fourth year.

BPR:  Which Project Runway designers will be showing collections?

ND:  Myself, Michelle Lesniak, Gordana Gehlhausen, and Josh Christensen are all confirmed.  Michelle will be showing her "Pin Me / Pierce Me" collection.  Gordana is showing fifteen lingerie designs and fifteen gowns.  Josh is showing fifteen pieces - ten women's and five men's.

FashioNXT in Portland Features Seven Project Runway Designers

Portland's FashioNXT event featured five Project Runway designers on Saturday night, October 12th.

Season 10 designer, Fabio Costa, opened the show.

All-Star Gordana Gehlhausen followed with a collection of gowns.

Season 9 designer, Josh Christensen, presented menswear as well as womenswear.

Season 7 Champion and All-Star, Seth Aaron Henderson, presented a capsule collection of three  whimsical looks. 

All-Star Michael Costello presented a collection of glamorous and romantic eventing gowns.

Earlier in the week, Season 9 designer, Becky Ross presented a colorful daywear collection.  Ross challenged herself to use what she had on hand to create most of her looks.

Season 11 Champion, (Portland's own!) Michelle Lesniak, presented her "Decay" collection on Friday night, October 11th.

Joshua joins Josh Christensen and Seth Aaron Henderson for the Friday night event.

Project Runway Designers Featured at FASHIONxt

Project Runway fans are in for a treat in Portland Oregon. October 10 - 13th as FASHIONxt features collections from Seth Aaron Henderson, Viktor Luna, Becky Ross, Josh Christensen, Gordana Gehlhausen and Michael Costello.

Highlights include:

Seth Aaron Henderson and Viktor Luna have collaborated on a collection for the opening night on October 10th.  This collaboration is made possible by the Intel Personal Cloud.  Afterward, Viktor will present his Spring 2013 Collection.

On Thursday, October 11th, Season 9 designer, Becky Ross will present her Spring 2013 Collection.

On Friday, October 12, Josh Christensen will present his Spring collection and Seth Aaron will present a collection including menswear and womenswear.

On Saturday, October 13th, Gordana Gehlhausen and Michael Costello will show their latest designs.

What do you like to do when you’re not working? 


 The best part about my life right now is that I’ve forced myself to find a work/life balance. I recently took up surfing. I need to do something that doesn’t allow me to think about design for a while, and surfing is great because I’m not super good at it. I have to focus on not dying so there’s absolutely no thinking about design when I’m surfing. It’s strictly about surviving.

El Paseo's Project Runway All Stars Fashion Show was *the* event to be at in Palm Desert.

Coordinated and championed by local designer and Project Runway All Stars finalist, Michael Costello, alumni from previous seasons reunited to present their latest collections to an eager crowd of over 800 people.

A highlight: Josh describes the model drama that has not been shown in the episodes. He also describes how he and Rafael had to create a look for the "Larger Than Life" challenge even though they were already eliminated.

Meet Joshua Christensen

Joshua Christensen is 29 and lives in Snohomish, WA. He has a degree in Fashion Design from FIDM in Los Angeles. (Probably knows Nick Verreos!)

Joshua is a menswear designer and his dream celebrity client would be David Beckham.
