Project Runway Fantasy Game Update from Mark Y

I have to say that I like our Project Runway best when the designers get along with each other because they crack jokes between themselves and they're just funnier. And this week we learn that Anthony thinks that Maya is pretty! That's nice, right? Whether she stays or goes, I hope we're closer to finding out why she didn't show at Fashion Week, don't you?

The previews have sparked a controversy because HRH Michael isn't pictured sitting in the judge's seat. I think he's playing a role other than judge and we'll see him in another capacity. Anyone with me on this scenario? Discuss.

Last week I did well with the M&Ms and Seth Aaron and I'm grateful to each of them for my 19 points. Speaking of points ... tally by remaining designer looks like this > Amy (26), Anthony (25), Emilio (19), Jay (51), Jonathan (31), Maya (32), Mila (37) and SA (35).

Team challenges are never a love fest. Maybe this will be the first double elimination since Marla and Diana slipped on a banana in Season Two. My picks are Jonathan, Seth Aaron and Mila. Unless I change my mind before 9:00 EST.

Tonight On BPR

Photo: Lifetime Network

Hey look, it's L'Oreal makeup guy Collier Strong back for his obligatory sponsor gig on tonight's episode of Project Runway. We are down to eight designers who will be faced with a critical team challenge in "Takin' It To The Streets". BPR will of course be on hand for all the design and drama:
  • Tbone and suzq will be in their usual seats providing live play by play coverage of tonight's episode. Pre-game starts at 9:25 p.m. and we will go non-stop until the episode ends at 11:00 p.m.
  • The BPR party room opens at 9:30 p.m. for your PR viewing pleasure. We had to clean the place up a bit after St. Patrick's Day but it should be in decent enough shape for the BPR party crew.
  • After the show is over tell us what you really think in our weekly reactions thread.

Happy Thursday everyone!

A highlight: I had lunch with a 12-year-old girl and her mother as part of a charity auction, and she was wearing, as God is my witness, six inch black stilettos, a mini skirt, crazy patterned tights, and a real chinchilla shrug. She looked ridiculous. She looked like JonBenet Ramsey. It was really extreme. I am always saying to teenage girls: “Love these years. Stop dressing like you’re thirty.”

Where is Michael Kors?

Photo: Lifetime Network

The advance press photos from this week's episode of Project Runway reveal a curious absence. There is no Michael Kors! Sitting in his spot this week is Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa, in a repeat of his Season 5 guest judge appearance. Taking up the last director's chair is model/actress Molly Sims.

MK's absence is especially puzzling considering the fact in
our pre-season interview with Project Runway Executive Producer Sara Rea, she stated "...the first thing I'll tell you about Season 7 is we have Michael and Nina the entire time...". Here's hoping this is the only challenge that is missing the full judging crew.

Project Runway Fantasy Game Update from Mark Y

I might as well be wearing bell bottoms and a Members Only jacket based upon my showing in the Fantasy Game last week. One point! Beyond embarrassing. Its no fun picking the winner and the loser. How did you do?

This week is another inspiration challenge. Not envy, not art, not life on the street. This time air, earth, fire, and water, elements essential to many philosophies and cultures, and certainly to those with creative souls.

Will one designer's look be hot or simply a hot mess? Whose look will leave you feeling cold? Will the judges say one designer is all wet?

I'm betting on Maya, Mila and Seth Aaron to bring me BIG points on the runway.

See you all in the BPR Party Room at 9:30.

Watch the Project Runway season four champion in a one-hour special entitled Christian Siriano: Having a Moment, on Monday, April 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

According to the press release we'll "get to see a glimpse into the life of the mini-mogul – who immediately resonated with fans and fashionistas alike on Project Runway – as he prepares for fashion week, overseeing every aspect of his line from start-to-finish, model fittings, Emmy-dress appointments and balancing work and life with family, friends and work associates. It will all culminate in the highly pressure-filled buyer meetings where Siriano will learn whether all of his hard work will pay off."

Project Runway Fantasy Game Update from Mark Y

Photo: myLifetime.com

Greetings PR SuperFans,

This week's challenge is to design a look for the fall collection of She By Sheree! I'd love that wouldn't you? Can you imagine what a great guest judge Sheree would be? She has a lot of fashion cred, getting dressed every day and all.

I can't wait for the eye rolling and shoulder shrugs when the designers arrive at a hardware store for a fast dash up and down the aisles to fashion their looks. Want to bet at least one designer will say something like "I myself prefer to work with better quality fabrics?" If I were a designer, I'd grab the paint color cards for my look. And I hope we see at least one lampshade on a model's head.

The preview seems to place Jay, Anthony and Maya in the runway spotlight but I never trust the editing of reaction shots on PR. I only wish that Jesus Estrada hadn't been eliminated earlier because I saw him in NYC during Fashion Week and he was wearing a pair of seriously studded gloves so I think he would have rocked this challenge.

How about you? Who will you choose for your fantasy team? See you all in the Party Room Thursday night at 9:30.

P.S. It's not too late to join the "PR Superfans Group."
