Project Runway Supermodel, Amanda Fields, offers her "take" on the models each week.
A highlight:

If there were a store for each designer on Spring Street in SoHo, NY, I would go shopping in Dmitry's store. 

 Dmitry's first model is awkward and that dress is wearing her.

 The second model is incredible yet again. We discover her name is Cat! WOW. I love her hair cut! It makes her look even better which I didn't know was possible! 

 His third model is very strong. I love her walk because it, along with her expression adds to the drama of the leather!

Amanda's Take, Season 10, Episode 11

Project Runway Supermodel Amanda Fields offers her "take" on "It's Fashion Baby." Thank you Amanda!

Can you believe it? Down to the final 6 for Season Ten! So close to fashion week! I am always in favor of a challenge that inspires the designers to create something out of their typical repertoire. To really go out on a limb and see where they can push themselves. Well done! 

The only thing that did not seem to make sense? The baby dolls that they had to take care of while they were supposed to be cutting patterns and sewing. Yes, if they are not parents themselves, (which none of them were), it is beneficial to understand the needs of clothing a baby. But couldn't they somehow have achieved this just through spending time with their Mom & Baby teams? 

I thought all of the moms and babies were just precious on the runway. No critiques from me! I have walked the runway with young kids, with a poodle on a leash, a labarador retriever on a leash, and holding a pomeranian, but I have never been sent down the runway with a baby.

Amanda's Take, Season 10, Episode 10

Kick Up Your Heels, folks! It's a rockin' Rockette Project Runway collaboration! Here we go...

 Could Heidi be ANY cuter in her green Rockettes costume? I loved her high kicks!

"Take a moment, let them see you, don't run away." - Dmitry to his model.

 This is wonderful advice. No matter what the designer gives me to wear, I always want to show it well and get my photo taken as much as possible so that the photographers have an opportunity to get great shots of my dress to share with the world. This is the type of episode I've been waiting for all season. We get to see the designers telling their models how they would like them to walk.

I appreciate this look inside of what we do, because the decision to smile or not smile, walk fast or slow, pose half way back, any of these things are the wishes of the designer which then, in a traditional fashion show, get translated to the producer who then communicates this to the models. It's important to maintain a polished walk no matter what the instruction may be, but mold your walk to fit the show.

 Dmitry's model added a little smile and some hip movement that really showcased the fringe on her dress. She managed to make it look like she was in the Rockettes without overdoing it. Very classy!

Amanda's Take, Season 10, Episode 8

Project Runway Supermodel, Amanda Fields, returns with her take on episode 8 - thanks Amanda!

"They [Dmitry and Elena] are like Boris and Natasha from Rocky & Bullwinkle." - Christopher

I like the idea of having the designers create t shirts to sell on the street. However, it comes accross as: "We're too cheap to just give each team $800. You guys go use these leftover t shirts and glitter and help a production out.."

I don't understand why Alicia, Dmitri and Elena just didn't care what the shirts looked like. It was easy to see the result of that with their low sales.

Sonjia is quickly becoming my favorite to win. I would wear that jacket all fall and winter long!

Ven's skirt is too old for his team's collection. A lot of his design is not young and fresh. I am starting to think he could go home soon.

"Get your ass in gear, or I'm gonna get it in gear." - Gunnar

Oh please. You signed up to make dresses because outerwear terrifies you.

Amanda's Take - Season 10, Episode 6, Fix My Friend

Hello there BPR land! 

 I, like most of you out there, love to hate this type of challenge. When it's right it's REALLY right and when it goes wrong it is just PAINFUL. As a viewer, all I want is for the women who are the clients to have a little bit of fantasy in their everyday life. 

To be a model for a day. I wish all women (and men, for that matter) could feel beautiful in their own skin and walk the runway that is their life. I will not be harsh on the women walking the runway this time, because this is not their occupation. I will just let you know how I think they are FEELING!!

 Nathan's client, Liana is up first! She seemed to not be very happy in her dress. Perhaps it was kind of what she had in mind but I didn't see the confidence that comes from wearing a dress that is EXACTLY right. She wanted something sexy but classy. This looked cheap. She looked beautiful! - love the hair and makeup! 

 Elena's client Jenna is next and my big critique here is that with the makeup and ensemble she actually looked older, not her age. If you look at the before she definitely looked more youthful, if not TOO juvenile. She was confident on the runway because that skirt and top were on trend, looked expensive, and fit her fantastically. Love her SASS!

Amanda's Take - Season 10, Episode 5

"I'm not a f****n tailor. I don't do that s**t!" - Gunnar

This right here is why you were picked (almost) last. BAD attitude. I always think being humble, positive and a hard worker will get you far in any field. What shuts the door in your face? Grumpiness, pouting, complaining and negative gossip. All of which Gunnar is capable of.

What Raul, Gunnar and all the designers need to be aware of if you can't just show up after a few years of design school and expect to have a worldwide design empire a la Michael Kors. It's neccessary to work as an assistant, pattern maker, or yes, TAILOR to therefore show your great skill to the world. Not your aesthetic, but your skill. It won't have your name on the tag or at the top of the runway - yet - but if you are willing to be a seamstress for a while it just might, in another 8 years. Until then, do the work!

Ohh, "silk chiffonzies!" Funniest thing to come out of that workroom since "Daniel Franco, where did you go??"

A "tie" on the score? It's obvious to me that the blue/black collection is far and away better than the purple train wreck.

From what I can see, the models did a fantastic job on the Marie Claire photo shoot at Go Studios. Amongst the yelling, arguing, cursing and complaining the models delivered a stunning shoot. They gave movement, grace and an edge to the looks. I am happy Project Runway is using the models from the show in the magazine as opposed to a different set of girls.

Heidi looked smashing on the runway! Finally, she gets it REALLY right.

Amanda's Take - Season 10, Episode 4, "Women on the Go"

  Sad Fashion.

 Was it just me, or did the designs this week reflect everyone's mood? With Andrea and Kooan departing (taking the coward's way out) the other designers were a bit shocked and very sad.

 Hence: sad, sad little dresses on the runway.

 By now, after all these fabulously glamorous seasons of Project Runway, we have come to know what the judges mean when they say "Woman on the Go" or "it looks like she's going to 'work.'" One thing Michael, Nina, Tim and usually the guest judge do not like are tacky colors and cheap looking fabric.

Heidi, on the other hand likes a dress with a little spice. Heidi's taste usually doesn't win.

Amanda's Take - Season 10, Episode 1

Project Runway Supermodel, Amanda Fields returns to present her "model's perspective" on season ten. Welcome back Amanda!


  From California to NYC, welcome BPR Readers! I'm Amanda Fields and I'm here to give you my take on Project Runway Season Ten from my perspective. I have been honored to be a part of this process and will forever be grateful to be in this glorious and chic Project Runway Family! 


Here we go! Back Again for Season Ten! Times Square, New York, baby! 


It feels like home to watch designers in that work room at Parsons! I really like this group of people. Seeing the photos on the wall in the work room of the previous winners make me so happy because those are some of the friends I have been so lucky to have in my life! 


Gunnar is a petulant child. I am bothered by him. Find your real voice, Gunnar! It's in there somewhere! Quit talking like you're a freakin Kardashian! Just because you and Christopher have similar hair doesn't mean you have the similar personalities!! Christopher said... "He should be on Toddler's and Tiaras, not Project Runway. Wrong show." Well said. 


Each designer gets 2 models, one for the existing piece that represents their aesthetic and one for the new companion piece. I am excited to see if they put the better model in the first or second look. I would choose the second, because it needs more help being sold to the judges. 
It would seem that a lot of these girls are not coming back for the entire season. Perhaps the show will mix and match them? 


Christopher says, "my model is two inches smaller than my dress form. I'm kinda screwed." Use the other model then!! Switch them up.

Amanda's Take - Project Runway All Stars

Project Runway Supermodel, Amanda Fields takes a look at the All-Star models. Thanks Amanda!

This All Star season has been fun to watch! The Miss Piggy challenge was my favorite so far because it reminded me of the early days of the show.

I love that we get to hear a little bit more from the models too! Still no on-screen name credits for them...

Michael Costello's model really sold that little look. On a lesser model he could have been eliminated... to be blunt, if a model had bad legs, say, out of shape, with too much cellulite.. he would have been sent home for creating such a "travesty." However, because Michael's model is beautiful with a fantastic body, she could somehow make sense of that little thing she had on. I like to say that the hard work of modeling comes in the preparation, not the actual job. Discipline in exercise and diet is key to being a fantastic runway model! Great work!!

The same can be said for Jerell's model. My goodness... what an athlete she must be! He was saved by her rockin' bod! If a model had a torso that was a no-no... well he would have gone home too. Somehow when there is a fit, sexy model wearing something they somehow save the fact that the outfit was in bad taste.

Mila's model is gorgeous too (they all are!!) but I think perhaps she is over-selling her looks just a bit. The moodiness worked in the Miss Piggy challenge with the mod black and white striped dress, but this week I wanted to tell her to relax a bit.

Austin's model is becoming forgettable to me. Normally a tall beautiful blonde would be very easy to remember but she somehow fades into the background. I think she is good at what she does and is definitely on her way.



Speaking of blondes... Mondo's model is my favorite this season. She seems to know how to embody what Mondo creates. I loved her effortless walk down the runway in the cantaloupe kaftan.


This challenge's elimination reminded me of the episode Kayne was eliminated in season 3. "Black and White" - the judges said there was not enough white elements in his look. They just wanted a reason to let a contestant go, and they used it as an excuse. The same rule applies here! Obviously Anthony had many items of clothing from the street that he could have used. Why not make the top of his look in that polyester print? Sure, it would have leaned a little bit too on the era of the 70s, but at least he would have completed the challenge in the judges eyes more to the T.

That being said, I think his look was the best he had done all season long!!! I wish he would have done that look for the Gelato challenge so Diane von Furstenberg could have seen his glorious jumpsuit in green tea color! He was really beginning to come into his own. Anthony, please keep making those jumpsuits! I will take 2!

Amanda's Take - Project Runway All Stars, Episode 1

Project Runway Season 3 model Amanda Fields enjoys the unique position of having worked with many of these All-Star designers. She has graciously agreed to provide us with her perspective on the models of the All Star season. Thank you Amanda!

Thank goodness for [just] one hour of PR All stars! Didn't it feel like you saw everything you needed to see, heard everything you needed to hear? It kept me interested, laughing and genuinely entertained. And I'm not just talking about Austin Scarlett!


This is a little bit of a conundrum, because of course I miss the regulars. How can they even call it Project Runway without Tim Gunn, Heidi, Nina and Michael? Not that they aren't watching (they probably are!!) and judging. I would love to hear what they're saying about this ensemble... maybe an eye roll and a German curse word. Just maybe a frozen fruit margarita or two.



The host and judges, however, did make for a fun mix! I have always loved Angela Lindvall and have admired her as a model and as a person throughout her career. Like Heidi, she is a mom and I will never forget running into her in the west village in New York City with one of her darling boys! She was so kind to talk to a stranger who was just starting out in modeling and was (and still is) a fan!

Amanda's Take - Season 8 - Episode 12

Project Runway Season 3 model, Amanda Fields returns with her "Model's Perspective" on episode 12. Thank you Amanda!

This episode gave me goosebumps! I absolutely loved it from beginning to end. The moment when the five designers walked out to receive their fate from the judges, they embraced in a group hug that was genuine and touched my heart, as I am sure it touched yours.

Last week we saw the designers (finally) choosing their models! The only catch - they had to pick new ones. This was unfortunate for two ladies: Mondo's model Eyen and Gretchen's model, Alexandra. They have faithfully strutted down the runway all season and have now been reassigned or aufed. Gretchen's model was chosen by Christopher and then subsequently "eliminated." I thought she was one of the best the whole time! At least these ladies made a wonderful impression on the fans as well as the modeling world, and I am sure they will be very busy with bookings because of their experience on PR! However - this is fabulous news for Tina Marie because she is now with the fabulous Mondo! (And because of Valerie's elimination she would have just been out too.)

Amanda's Take - Season 8 - Episode 10

Oh my goodness, BPR's! I have been a busy bee in New York City as well as California! Here I am to offer up my humble opinions yet again!


The seven remaining designers did a fantastic job designing their prints. I believe, of course, that the deeper the inspiration, the more beautiful the design. Although California is beautiful and an incredible source of inspiration, it just didn't feel very personal in the way Christopher portrayed it. However, I am not here to critique design elements, I'm here to discuss the models.


Season eight has so many gorgeous, graceful, talented models, yet I couldn't tell you their names. Except for Eyen, Mondo's model and Rose, Christopher's model, because they have talked about them a little bit in their one-on-one interviews. Cassie is memorable too because she seems to allow more of her personality to come out on the runway. I like her little grin sometimes, but this week I felt it was because she knew her outfit wasn't flattering. Even though she may not have been very comfortable in Andy's design this week, she tried to appear as though she loved it, and may have helped him not get sent home.


April's model, Millana looked stunning in her dress. I really like the way she swayed her hips to create more movement in the bottom half of the dress. I also think it was smart of Millana to leave the printed sleeve arm straight for the walk down the runway, this way the judges were able to get a streamlined view of the print. I just wish she would have turned up the energy when the judges were critiquing the look. I am well aware of how much time the models and designers are up there during the taping of the judging, but when it is your designer getting the attention, you'd better perk up!


I really love the way the editors included the close-ups of the prints as each model made her way around the scrim. It was a beautiful reminder of not only the hard work they put into this challenge, but the inspiration and the additional element the designers would be judged on this week.


Mondo is such a brave soul. I am excited to see what else he creates, not only on the show, but in the years to come. I believe he is a designer who is here to stay, and a person with beautiful honesty. The way he bared his soul to the judges and to America is inspiring!

Amanda's Take - Season 8 - Episode 6

I love it when the designers are thrown off balance. It gives them a chance to step outside their comfort zone and for the judges, viewers and themselves to discover untapped potential that they may not have even been aware of. I, of course, love watching the models work it, it's always fun. I appreciate how they not only had the new models be former bridesmaids, but also had a variety of body types - skinny included. I am not a fan of people saying "real women" and not including the real women who happen to wear a size 2 or 4. I think all of the bridesmaids had fun on the runway, and really did their best to sell their new look to the cameras and the judges. As Michael Kors would say, "kudos" to the production team of not only this season's runway, but all PRs, past and present, for incorporating different body types, from petite to tall, voluptuous to skinny minnie.

This season's remaining cast were so gracious to these lovely ladies. Sure, there was opportunity for drama, but they didn't take the bait. And to think back to episode two when Jason had such trouble with a runway model who was maybe one dress size above the rest of the girls! Michael D worked with a beautiful curvy model and he did so with charm. She was so sweet and had a great attitude and seemed to have fun with the whole thing. Bravo to Michael D for this respect! Christopher had already begun his sketching/design plan when he discovered he would have a different model and dress to re-design! He just went right along with it, gracefully and skillfully, winding up in the top three.

As for Michael Costello, he is a great designer and deserved his win. Yes, I also loved Mondo's dress, and it could have gone to either one of them.

Amanda's Take - Season 8 - Episode 5

Isn't it a beautiful thing when a model can come to her designer's aid in the midst of a crisis of inspiration? Casanova's model, Sarae gave him a pep talk from her heart. She knew that for him to be able to finish his work he needed to be confident. She is my favorite model this week because she showed compassion and talent! I am sure the other models are nice too - and will get their chance to shine in this way.

Amanda's Take - Season 8 - Episode 2

First thing's first: WHERE was the model elimination? Are designers just paired up with the model they have? That's not such a bad thing because they are all talented and striking. Of course, as a former PR model, I want there to be a model elimination process so that the catwalkers are narrowed down to who the designers decide are the best - and not whomever they are just with. It worked out well for season 2, but they addressed it each week. The winning designer had the opportunity to switch models. Perhaps this season the models are there to ... just be the models! They may not even be competing. Just doing their fabulous job! However they are doing this - I just want to be informed! TELL us, Heidi!

Billboard, BABY!

Ta da! The same week as this episode airs, I am on a video billboard in Times Square as well! It's for Hair Battle Spectacular on Oxygen. If you are in New York City and want to take a look, the last day to do so is Tuesday, August 10th! It's above the American Eagle store in Times Square 1551-1555 Broadway and will be playing from 10:30am - 2:30pm and 5pm - 9pm. I am wearing a fiery red wig!

Amanda's Take - Season 8, Episode 1

Project Runway Season Three Model, Amanda Fields returns to present her perspective on Season 8. Thank you Amanda!

Amanda Update: I can confirm that I am on a huge video billboard in Times Square for Hair Battle Spectacular! I am a model on this exciting new show that premieres Tuesday August 10th at 10pm on Oxygen! Another dream come true! Here is a photo of me with judge Derek Jae, Host Brooke Burns, Judge Lindsay Albanese and another model from the show, Kendall earlier this week promoting the show at the NBC Universal Television Critics Association event! I ran into Andy Cohen from Bravo who was there to promote The Real Housewives of D.C.!



Let's get to it!!
So far I love the season 8 cast. The colors on the walls in the work rooms and the sewing room are fresh. The set design of the show has evolved in a gorgeous way. The runway surface is so beautiful. It's smooth and reflects the light which will help us get a better look at the outfits. I believe the runway is LONGER too (more runway time = more TV time)! The fashion show was 6 minutes all together, and I love it! I think it's the most important part (of course). They changed the chairs for the judges to sit in too! Another adorable update.

Michael Costello! I have had the pleasure of modeling in a fashion show for him this past spring! He is a sweetheart, his designs are elegant and fun to wear, and of course I am rooting for him!

I thought Jason would be eliminated based on the stapled backwards kimono. I guess they wanted to see what he would do given the critique to sew.

Amanda's Take - Season 7, Episode 12

THE BIG TOP
Wow. You can really see why these models are the top five.
I had more to say about the models from previous seasons because someone would give me a reason to explain why a model shouldn't walk a certain way. This season the models were all so talented and poised it was hard to find fault with any of them!

All the remaining models have their own unique style on the runway and are all stunningly beautiful. The model who has the most confidence week after week is Lorena. It doesn't hurt that Emilio keeps giving her such incredibly gorgeous clothes to wear! She helps them to look more beautiful and also she has shown her knowledge of how to work a gown effortlessly.

Amanda's Take - Season 7, Episode 10, Episode 11

Take 1:

LOVE that the designers were able to create their own print to become their own fabric! Cerri was incredibly natural in the way she removed her jacket on the runway. It was definitely not the most flattering look, but she saved it by being so graceful and sweet. If I were ever on a runway in a dress like Brandise wore and I didn't feel that I could walk gracefully in it, I would pick it up too.

Kristina is beautiful and even though Anthony was eliminated, she was so confident in his design and you could see that on stage. She looked incredible in it and Anthony really knows how to fit it to her body so well!

I'm so happy Emilio won! His fabric design was so great because I could envision it immediately in other colors and on handbags, wallets, sunglasses, you name it!
